Ground and Point
This sculpture has been constructed with one "grounded" leg and one cone-shaped "pointed" leg - a challenge in structure. It has been made from a buff clay body and its marble-like look comes from the application of white slip (a wetter mixture of clay that forms a paste-like consistency) added once the structure is partially dry. You can see the white slip come away from the base form at some points - It is these textures and imperfections that help tell a story of how it was made and form a finish that cannot be replicated.
