In 1907, the Tawashi brush was invented by Shozaemon Nishio in Tokyo, Japan. At that time, people only used a weak bunch of straw or ropes for cleaning. Kamenoko Tawashi has changed the way people clean their dishes and since then it has been a household staple for over a century.

Material and design - this brush is made from coconut coir fibre (not coloured or bleached) and metal wire. The coconut palm fiber is naturally antibacterial and the twisted design means that the metal wire is invisible and is perfect for gripping when washing dishes or scrubbing vegetables.

Dimensions - approximately 13cm x 6cm x 4.5cm

Care - heat resistant up to 90 degrees celsius. After using, clean and dry thoroughly.

This brush is carefully and individually handmade by skilled workers in Japan and the palm fibre is harvested from Sri Lanka.
